In its Strategic Plan 2025-2029 SISDO remains responsive to contextual changes, as well as addresses emerging issues and risks.
Gender Mainstreaming and Climate Justice has been taken into consideration in the development and implementation of SISDO products and services.
The organization continues to be a learning catalyst and facilitator of change processes and innovator of sustainable responsive interventions during this strategic period.
SISDO is undertaking mobilizing financial and human resources through strategic partnerships with local and international development partners, county and national governments, local communities, businesses, financial institutions and our clients.
SISDO intentionally mainstreams special interest groups namely women, youth and people with disabilities in its quest to promote economic empowerment across all populations. The strategic areas of focus are mainly:

  • Business Development
  • Revolving Fund
  • Technology Development and
  • Institutional Growth and Sustainability.

SISDO through its Revolving Fund SISDO builds smallholder farmers’ processing capacity, increasing on-farm productivity and better access to markets. The products and services provided include:

  • Increasing production and productivity in livestock farming, fish farming and bee keeping enterprises.
  • Capacity building of smallholder farmers to enhance factors of production, utilize modern technologies and improved agricultural practices.
  • Enhancing agricultural and livestock value chains.
  • Promoting climate smart agricultural technologies and environmental conservation initiatives.
  • Smallholder farmer training agribusiness skills, knowledge and information.

Some of the typical ongoing interventions aimed at promoting economic growth among smallholder farmers include:

Livestock Production and Productivity (Dairy, Fisheries, Poultry, Rabbits, Piggery Beekeeping)

This includes building capacity to facilitate acquisition of livestock such as dairy cows, dairy goats, pigs, fish fingerlings, day old chicks, rabbits amongst others. In addition, SISDO also enhances farmers capacity to construct silage units and to access animal feeds as well as access equipment such as chaff cutters, dairy equipment, veterinary services, brooders, incubators, fish ponds, fish feeds, shed nets, water pumps, supplements, hives and bee harvesting gears.
SISDO also provides training for dairy farmers in farm management, record keeping and also works in partnership with other stakeholders.

Climate Smart Agricultural Technologies and Environmental Conservation Initiatives.

This includes building capacity to facilitate acquisition of farm inputs such as fertilizers, insecticides, pesticides, manure, labor, certified seeds as well as equipment such as water harvesting and storage water tanks, water pumps, acquisition and installation of micro irrigation technologies such as drip irrigation systems, greenhouses and solar systems, as well as biogas installation agroforestry interventions and environmentally friendly waste management systems. In addition, this also comprises of enhancing value addition by assisting farmers acquire startup capital for setting up dairy processing plants, poultry equipment, cold storage equipment, juice processing and pulping, produce packaging and marketing.
